Biography

Until December 2020 Professor Michael (Mick) Cardew-Hall was Pro Vice-Chancellor and CEO of ANU Enterprise, Innovation at the Australian National University with responsibility for commercialisation and knowledge transfer, industry engagement and early-venture capital. He now holds an Honorary position as Professor Emeritus.

Previous to that, Mick held the position as CEO of ANUCV and holds a seat on the ANUCV Investment Committee. He also held the positions of Head Department of Engineering, Deputy Dean and Acting Dean of the College of Engineering & Computer Science at ANU.

He has served as a Director of the Australian Solar Institute, Lithicon AS, Simile Systems, Cicada Innovations and is currently Chair of the Boards of Australian Scientific Instruments, WearOptimo Pty Ltd and the Social Research Centre.

Mick is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Institution of Engineers Australia and he has held technical and management positions with GEC and Rolls-Royce Aero Engines in the UK prior to joining the ANU in 1993.

Mick has been involved in a number of spin-off start-up companies.
